Leilani Kake a pacific  islander  who works through video installation, documentation .After years of working with at Tangata Whenua. television   she decided  to resign her application and decided to continue with here passion on art, through moving image, she  stopped working with television because  she never  got to do any of the work  her way. Leilani studied moving image at Manukau institute  of Technology , MSVA.Most  of  Leilani
work of installations portray  her culture and heritage  of being a cook island, her installations mostly reflect on
emotions through the human body of a women , for example of her work is , The four winds, the four winds installation portrays the culture of nudity  and try to show sexuality and power / history  of pacific maori women. Kake's insperations comes from women who  has conceived  cancer, mainly pacific islanders/maori women. what  also inspires Leilani  to do her art work/ installations through maori heritage  and her family. Her work The four winds was firt shown at the Otara Fresh gallery One of her other work she   has created with mobing image is a installation , usinga digital format with letters forming creative patterns that sort of  simbolises maori patterns and forming words. " Kiora  Orana ". Her work  on the video installation of her son swimming in a slow motion way. interests  me , plus the way it was  viewed, how  the water  was completely black, that effect caught my eye  and by giving it a legit video installation form. seeing that video  installation inspires me to try interoperate  an installations   like leilani's intallatioons of her child, (acient Tangaroa ,a  young god).

  1. Thanks Ronald! There are three ways you could improve this post:

    1. Mention the exhibition at Te Tuhi which was part of the task.
    2. Do some further research and include website addresses.
    3. Use spellcheck! Don't just press "submit" on the first draft, but read back and check what you have written, to see if it makes sense and if there are any obvious spelling mistakes.

    Cheers,

    TX
